In the process of plastic gear molding, the gear mold is the molding equipment of the plastic gear and is the key to ensuring the accuracy of the plastic gear. The root plastic gear mold can be divided into two parts: gear cavity and mold base. Among them, the gear cavity, also known as the ring gear, is the most stringent and highest precision part of the entire gear mold processing, and is the top priority of the entire gear mold processing.
When processing plastic gears by molding, the gate position has a significant impact on the accuracy of the gears, especially radial runout; the distribution of gates has an important impact on the overall mechanical properties of plastic gears. In the design of the plastic gear mold gate, if the gear product allows, it is recommended to design the gate with three-point feeding, and the three points are preferably on the same arc line and evenly distributed.
There are four main processing methods for gear cavity: wire cutting method, EDM method, electrodeposition method and beryllium copper alloy casting method. These four methods have their own advantages and disadvantages when processing the gear cavity. For involute spur gears, wire cutting is usually used, while for helical gears, EDM is generally used. In addition, the electrode used for EDM gear cavity can also be processed by wire cutting. For the helical gear electrode with a small helical angle (β≤6°) instead of the worm gear and worm meshing, wire cutting can still be used. .
